“While it may sound a little mystical, it seems that fashion really does somehow find, and favor, certain people. The London-based Candice Lake is one of the select few for whom a life in fashion was destined, but not sought after. The Pre-Raphaelite-like beauty, born and bred in Australia, had no plans to follow in the footsteps of her onetime-model mother, and yet, while undertaking a law degree, Lake was serendipitously scouted by a model agent and sent off to the shows in Milan. Before she knew what was happening, the young model was chatting with industry greats including Karl Lagerfeld and Marc Jacobs — and her love for the industry began. While modeling for Harper’s Bazaar, Lake asked the photographer if she could assist his next shoot — and her career in photography was born.
