(ps I’m wearing Prada Pants and topshop top I borrowed for the night… and you all know that bag by now!)
Candice Lake manages to stay gorgeous through a rigorous NY fashion week.
I met Candice Lake in Sydney during Fashion Week when we were both strutting our stuff on the catwalk. We later ended up living together in Paris where we would spend our Sundays reading the Herald Tribune International in the park while splitting a baguette from our neighborhood bakery. Weekdays were spent running around Paris trying to keep up with an exhausting casting schedule. In the evenings we would keep the mood light by cooking dinners in with Larissa Brown, singing our hearts out to the sweet sweet tunes of Mariah Carey and exchanging stories about the crazy people we had met on our castings that day. Other days were spent folding paper airplanes and sending them out the window and down our little street, Rue des Petits Carreaux.
Since the moment I met Candice I noticed a fierce determination in her eyes. This was a girl who was going places and was not going to let anyone even suggest otherwise.
After deciding to walk away from life in front of the camera she has since found a home behind one. This September Candice had her first exhibition in New York City entitled “YOU AND ME, AND NO ONE IN BETWEEN” (previously covered by The Bracco Report.) You can currently see her work in Vogue Australia, Glamour U.K., and candicelake.tumblr.com.
I took these photos of her in a taxi after dinner the night of the 14th. She had just wrapped up her last day in NY after a week of shooting in the wind and rain and spending her evenings editing and e-mailing editors. The next day she was off to Paris to do it all again…and she looked fabulous! If only I looked this hot after 3 hours of sleep a night for a week straight.
Hey Candice, I'm a self taught 19 year old photographer looking to experiment more with digital photography. I've just purchased a 5d mark2 and im sure you get this all the time but, what lens do you use for street photography? I love your work, and was wondering what lens' you use? Hope all is well, Matthew xxx
Hey Matthew, Congrats on your new baby! I use a 24 - 7mm 2.8 lens and also a 1.4 50mm fixed lens… both are amazing and both are canon. Good luck and keep shooting every day x
